i’m curious how much of this will heal when i get out of the humid, bug-ridden jungle atmosphere. though i don’t mind scarring. much of me was covered in them before i came here. i consider them, in a way, primitive tattooing. some can be very beautiful. they are also good memory markers; but in this instance i’m not quite sure where all of them come from.

i completely approve of the ankle-bone discoloration. early in my time here, one of the staff told me that wealthy people in Burma don’t sit on the floor to eat because they associate the discoloring with the common people. i’m a homegirl!
